Jasper the Bear is the official mascot of the Jasper Curling Club and appears on many club items. The Jasper the Bear trophies, made by Jack Hilworth and later by his son Arvon, were presented to the winners of the Mixed Bonspiel.


THE JASPER CURLING CLUB
1923
The first meetings were held with the intent to form the Jasper Curling Club and build a curling rink.
1924
The Jasper Curling Club was formed and a letter was sent to the superintendent of Jasper National Park requesting a site adjoining the skating rink to build a three sheet curling rink.
1925 The Jasper Curling Rink opened and fees were set- gentlemen’s fee was set at $15.00 and the ladies fee was $5.00 giving them exclusive use of the rink on two afternoons per week.
1926
First Annual Bonspiel was slated for January 18th -19th – 20th, 1926.
Curling thrived in the 20s and 30s except during WWII, when membership dipped, rebounding again in the 50s.
1949
The Jasper Curling Rink was moved to the other side of Pyramid Road to make way for the new swimming pool.
1951
A fourth sheet of ice was added to the rink.
1958
Artificial ice was installed and a kitchen and dining area added.
1960s
Neutral rocks for curlers were made available, replacing personal rocks. Eventually the club purchased eight sets of matched rocks.
1977
The Jasper Curling Club moved into new facilities in the Jasper Activity Centre.
1993
Jasper hosted the Curling Classic.
1994
Jasper hosted the Curling Classic.
1994
Jasper Curling Club members traveled to the world championships in Oberstdorf, Germany.
1995
Jasper hosted Peak of the Tour.
1998
Jasper hosted the Curling Classic.
2025
The Jasper Curling Club celebrated 100 years.
